The head of the narcological clinic of Dr. Isaev, a narcologist, Ruslan Isaev, said that alcohol consumption during coronavirus will change the course of the disease, Sputnik radio reports.

The severity of the coronavirus depends on the individual protective properties of the human body. Drinking alcohol weakens the immune system, so a drinker with COVID-19 runs the risk of acquiring a severe course of the disease.
"If a person is sick with covid in a mild form, then alcohol consumption can translate this form into a moderate or severe course of the disease," the doctor emphasized.
In addition, the use of alcohol during treatment can also cause serious complications and consequences. Many drugs for the treatment of COVID-19 are incompatible with alcohol - primarily antibiotics. Such medications can cause side effects, and alcohol will only intensify them.
Alcohol will also complicate the action of anticoagulants, drugs that prevent blood clots from forming. Alcoholic drinks increase blood clotting, so medications will have to be taken in large doses. However, during illness, the body sometimes gives out a defensive reaction, in which the desire to drink disappears after the general condition worsens.
According to Canadian scientists, wine facilitates the course of coronavirus: the drink contains an antioxidant that can reduce the severity of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). In addition to wine, it is found in peanuts, pistachios, cocoa and raspberries.
