Vaccination against the new coronavirus infection among those living in social institutions began in St. Petersburg, almost 300 people have already been vaccinated. Also, the city continues to vaccinate social workers, the press service of the city committee on social policy told TASS.

"A few weeks ago, work began on the vaccination of social service recipients living in hospitals. They also traveled to vaccination points together with employees. On behalf of the Governor of St. Petersburg, the Committee on Social Policy, together with the Health Committee, this week organized work with the involvement of mobile teams. Medical workers began to visit boarding schools to vaccinate the most weakened residents, including those on bed rest, "- said the press service.

According to the press service, now 298 people living in inpatient institutions run by the committee have been vaccinated.

“Our institutions are home to people with many diseases, so medical workers constantly monitor their health, know about contraindications. This also applies to vaccination. Therefore, the vaccination campaign is carried out as carefully as possible, taking into account the health status of both employees and recipients of social services. But we are all interested in the pandemic ending as quickly as possible, "the press service of the chairman of the committee, Alexander Rzhanenkov, said.

In addition, 686 employees were vaccinated against coronavirus in institutions subordinated to the committee on social policy - this is almost half of those who have indications for vaccination. This work has been going on since the end of December last year.

In total, according to the latest data, about 126.5 thousand people were vaccinated against the new coronavirus infection in St. Petersburg. During the pandemic in St. Petersburg, 349,740 cases of coronavirus infection were detected, according to this indicator, it ranks second among the regions of Russia after Moscow. 260,037 people recovered after infection, 10,298 died. Over the past day, 1,127 cases of infection were detected in the city.
