The Healthy Eating Bill is the right initiative. Oleg Volkov, Medical Director of Angioline JSC, told News.ru about this.
According to the specialist, this legislative initiative is useful both from the point of view of promoting the principles of healthy eating and lifestyle, and from the point of view of state guarantees and control, which will be enshrined in legislation.
The World Health Organization (WHO) supports the promotion of "healthy diets" in various forms, including programs aimed at schoolchildren and adolescents whose habits and dietary preferences are much easier to change than adults. Moreover, if we do not influence this in any way, then, unfortunately, the surrounding reality, which includes aggressive advertising and the availability of "unhealthy" food, is guaranteed to form "unhealthy" food preferences in schoolchildren, Volkov said.
According to him, the earlier a person begins to eat properly, the lower the risks of developing the main consequences of an "unhealthy" diet: obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular and gastrointestinal diseases.
Without a doubt, the success of the "healthy" nutrition program for schoolchildren will be reflected in a decrease in morbidity and mortality in future generations, the expert said.
As News.ru previously wrote, the bill on healthy eating is planned to be submitted to the State Duma in the spring session. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova.
