For 10 years it has become a tradition. Throughout January, every day until January 20, 2018 in Moscow at VDNKh, you can check the state of your heart on a modern Cardiovisor for free (on a first come, first served basis, from 10:00 to 17:00 in Building 452 VDNKh (2nd floor). It is well known that forewarned means forearmed. The Moscow doctors who came up with this action have already helped tens of thousands of people. And it's not just about prevention - timely examination, quite possibly, has already saved more than one life, because heart and vascular diseases (CVD) are still the most a frequent cause of death, and Russia, unfortunately, leads the world in mortality from myocardial infarction, cerebrovascular accident, heart failure, etc.

According to the annual Atlas "Health of Russia", more than 34 million patients with diseases of the circulatory system are registered in Russia, almost 3 million of them are Muscovites.

“Our people do not have a commitment to a healthy lifestyle, they devote little time and energy to the prevention of diseases, including cardiovascular diseases. A whole network of Health Centers is functioning in our country, and a prophylactic medical examination program has been launched. But do all people know about them, who comes voluntarily to inquire about their health? Most turn to doctors only when the disease has already entered into law,”says Mehman Mammadov, head of the laboratory of the Federal State Budgetary Institution of the State Research Center for Preventive Medicine of the Ministry of Health of Russia.

Without full-fledged work of the heart - an organ that makes up only 0.5 percent of the mass of the entire human body! - in principle, full-fledged work of all other systems in our body is impossible. Such well-known intracellular elements as potassium and magnesium also play a role in this process. For example, while studying myocardial infarction, doctors noticed that in the myocardium of people who died from cardiovascular diseases, magnesium is almost two times less.

According to its presence in a healthy body (21-28 g), magnesium, along with calcium, sodium and potassium, is included in the first four minerals, and in terms of content inside the cell it takes the second place after potassium. Thanks to magnesium, the level of seratonin, the hormone of happiness, increases. The daily requirement for adults in magnesium (310-420 mg) increases during pregnancy and lactation by 20-30 percent, and for athletes - up to 450 mg. You can provide it, for example, by eating 450 grams of spinach or 200 grams of seaweed daily. Or - about 1.5 kilos of beef or potatoes.

The role of potassium has also been scientifically proven, a low level of which contributes to the occurrence of arrhythmias, heart failure and stroke.

Potassium is the main element of every living cell, participates in the processes of energy production, synthesis of proteins and carbohydrates. The reason for the decrease in potassium levels can be the use of certain medications (diuretics or hormonal drugs, caffeine), prolonged diarrhea and vomiting. And also the abuse of alcohol, sugar and sugary carbonated drinks. This is manifested by a constant feeling of fatigue, sleep disturbance, anxiety, blood pressure surges, arrhythmia. At the same time, several independent studies have shown that increasing the daily intake of potassium by 10 mmol reduces the relative risk of stroke by 40 percent.

Alexander Myasnikov, famous doctor and TV presenter:

- If you cannot replenish the level of potassium and it continues to go somewhere, first of all you need to check the level of magnesium. Until it is replenished, potassium cannot be retained How to replenish? You can take pills, but if the situation is not urgent, it is better, of course, with food. Everyone knows about dried apricots. But the record holder here is dried dates! However, all dried fruits are rich in potassium. Also nuts, avocados are only slightly inferior to dried apricots.A lot of potassium in vegetables (tomatoes, carrots, spinach, native potatoes, broccoli) and fruits (bananas, kiwi, mango, oranges). By the way, meat also contains a lot of potassium.

However, you need to know and remember that in vegetables and fruits, potassium is in the form of that potassium salt, which is absorbed much worse than that contained in the correct tablets (there is potassium chloride). Therefore, in order, for example, to get as much potassium as with one tablet, you need to eat at least 3 bananas! By the way, potassium chloride can be given not only in tablets, but also in powders, solutions and capsules. The main thing is to know exactly what you are taking!

Is there enough potassium in your body?

Now this can be determined independently by passing a special test developed under the guidance of Professor Olga Gromova. This requires:

Answer the questions in column 1 Put the obtained values in column 3 Multiply the value in column 2 by the value in column 3 and write the total in column 4 Add 71 to the total

If the calculated value (potassium level) + -20 mmol / l is at the lower limit or below the norm (norm 70-120 mmol / l), it is necessary to compensate for the potassium deficiency and (or) consult a doctor to find out the causes of the deficiency.
