MOSCOW, December 22. / TASS /. The chief freelance psychiatrist-narcologist of the Ministry of Health of Russia and the Moscow Department of Health, Evgeny Brun, recommends that Russians not have a hangover the next day after drinking alcohol, as this can cause disorders of the cardiovascular system and lead to cardiac arrest, heart attacks and strokes.

"The next day, January 1, will come, and many people, not listening to my advice and in general the advice of doctors who talk about these general rules, will start to hangover. So remember, I pay special attention to this, the next day it is not a hangover, these are the remnants of intoxication, and layering new alcohol on unprocessed old is very dangerous. This causes various disorders associated with alcohol, and especially the cardiovascular system. There is a danger of stopping the work and activity of the heart, there may be various conditions of blood vessels that lead to heart attacks and strokes, "he said at a press conference at TASS on the safety of Russians on New Year's holidays in the face of a pandemic.

Brune emphasized that alcohol does not cure depression, does not squeeze fat, but only adds calories. "Alcohol does not improve health, the next day you need to sleep, sleep for a long time, lie down, move slowly, spare yourself. This will calmly allow you to overcome troubles after a sleepless night," he explained.

Brune also noted that the lack of physical activity while consuming alcoholic beverages increases intoxication, so during the New Year's feast, you should move or dance more.

"A glass of champagne for the New Year, at 12 o'clock, is a ritual, but not a reason for drinking, we must remember this very clearly. Do not sit for a long time at the table, immobility increases intoxication. It must be remembered that at night many biochemical processes slow down to almost zero, therefore, the processing of alcoholic products, and this is primarily a toxic product, will be delayed. Move more, run, dance, then alcohol will be processed faster, "he said.

Brune also urged to try not to drink alcohol, let alone get drunk, with children. "As a rule, there are children at the New Year's table. Do not [should] abuse children, the risks that they will abuse alcohol will increase sharply," the expert said.
