A native of the Kemerovo region, Doctor of Medical Sciences Elena Malysheva said that some drugs for coronavirus when taken by pregnant women can have a negative effect on the unborn child.

A native of Kemerovo, Elena Malysheva, said that pregnant women are at risk of contracting coronavirus. According to the TV doctor, problems in this matter also arise for the reason that it is dangerous for expectant mothers to take specific drugs, which include drugs for COVID-19. Allegedly, some of them are capable of causing genetic mutations in the fetus.

“We know that some of the drugs are capable of causing fetal deformity genetic mutations. We know that pregnant women cannot be given specific drugs for coronavirus, '' the doctor said.

As noted by Malysheva, it is also impossible to vaccinate pregnant women against coronavirus, since there is no information about its effect on the body of expectant mothers yet. Therefore, if a woman in a position has become infected with COVID-19, doctors cannot treat her, because there are currently no special medicines.

Nevertheless, the TV doctor hastened to calm her down. According to research, only 0.7% of pregnant women are infected with coronavirus. Moreover, in 95% of them, the disease is mild or asymptomatic. Scientists also found that a child cannot get COVID-19 from the mother, since the placenta does not allow the virus to pass through.

Earlier, the VSE42.Ru editorial office reported that Elena Malysheva had warned about the tenacious "superbugs".
