“In order to provide quick diagnostics at home, we are introducing rapid diagnostics of the COVID-19 antigen. This is an analogue of PCR diagnostics, it is a swab from the throat and nose. And at the patient's bedside within 30 minutes, the presence of a virus in the body is determined, RIA Novosti quotes Sebelev.
According to him, from October 26, rapid tests will begin to be carried out for all patients with symptoms of COVID-19. Early detection of coronavirus will help reduce the number of severe cases, the chairman of the health committee said.
Earlier, Igor Tyurin, the chief specialist in radiation and instrumental diagnostics of the Ministry of Health, said that it is not worth doing computed tomography (CT) prophylactically without a doctor's appointment, a PCR test is a reliable method for diagnosing COVID-19.
