Coronavirus can become a natural focal infection, spreading among domestic and farm animals. This assumption was made on October 21 by the director of the Gamaleya National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology, Alexander Gintsburg.

The virus, as we can see, sticks to various cells and tissues. It will undoubtedly take root in domestic animals, farm animals and other living objects that are not included in the concept of the human population,”the expert said at the 17th annual meeting of the Valdai International Discussion Club.

In this case, the specialist added, COVID-19 will become an endemic, natural focal infection. Gunzburg stressed that this will be one of the worst scenarios for the spread of coronavirus, since humanity has never won in the fight against natural focal infections.

Earlier, TV doctor Alexander Myasnikov spoke about the development of coronavirus in humans. According to him, COIVID-19 can proceed in four scenarios. So, people can tolerate the disease asymptomatically, with symptoms of acute respiratory infections, with complications in the form of mild pneumonia and in an aggressive form with severe pneumonia. The latter option is especially dangerous for people with chronic diseases.

As of October 21, Russian doctors have recorded 15,700 new cases of coronavirus over the past day. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 1,447,335 cases have been identified in the country. Moscow remains the leader in the number of infected people - 4389 new cases per day. Followed by St. Petersburg - 684 cases, and the Moscow region - 466. Over the past 24 hours, 317 people became victims of COVID-19. The total number of deaths reached 24,952. The number of those who recovered increased by 10,952, to 1,096,560 people, NEWS.ru wrote.
