Doctors of the Noginsk central district hospital cured two pensioners with coronavirus infection, whose lungs were affected by more than 75%. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Health of the Moscow Region.

“Two patients over 60 years old in serious condition with diagnosed coronavirus infection were admitted to the Noginsk central district hospital at the same time. Each woman's lung damage was more than 75%, blood oxygen saturation was less than 80%,”the report says.

It is clarified that the situation was complicated by the concomitant diseases of the patients: hypertension, diabetes mellitus, bronchial asthma, obesity.

“During the treatment, the question of transferring both the one and the other patient to the intensive care unit was raised more than once, but at the expense of the enormous efforts of the medical workers of the first infectious diseases department, it was possible to stabilize the condition. The women underwent constant oxygen support, lying on their stomachs, for about a month, in parallel undergoing a course of therapy. After that, the pathological process was stopped,”the press service quotes the chief physician of the Noginsk central regional hospital Sergei Livshits.

As it was concluded in the Ministry of Health of the Moscow Region, the patients are now doing well and are preparing to be discharged home.
