In the future, medicine will refuse to treat breast cancer with chemotherapy, said Albert Gimranov, head of the Department of Mammology and Plastic Surgery at the Republican Clinical Oncological Dispensary (RKOD), in an interview with Andrey Kuzmin's "Interview without a Tie" project.

According to him, scientists are actively developing drugs, the active substances of which are directed to specific receptors in tumor cells: "A huge number of new drugs are coming out that allow treating those women who were previously considered incurable and who were doomed."

Gimranov drew attention to the fact that chemotherapy, used to treat cancer, leads to hair loss and a drop in the level of leukocytes in the blood. "Probably, the future in breast cancer is not with surgery, but definitely with drugs," he added.

According to Gimranov, breast cancer ranks first in the structure of oncological diseases in women - 20% of the total.

Earlier, in an interview with Realnoe Vremya, the head of the chemotherapy department at the NCC KFU Alfiya Khasanova dispelled the myths about the "sick" chemotherapy.
