As the press service of the Acoustery project told the Made in Russia project, this technology works by means of a spectrogram - a visual representation of sound. So, each type of cough is reflected on them in the form of a pattern, a unique pattern, including a cough with coronavirus. The developers trained the neural network to analyze the image data and determine the covid type. For this purpose, for six months, medical workers in Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan collected thousands of cough sounds from those who contracted the virus.

Dmitry Mikhailov, head of the Acoustery project, said that the company has been engaged in machine learning technologies for over 5 years. Before the pandemic, he said, Acoustery's developments had a good track record in the automotive industry. So, with their help, acoustic diagnostics of malfunctions in cars, yachts and motorcycles was carried out.

“On this basis, with the support of numerous scientific and medical organizations, investing a lot of effort and money, we were able to make a technology that will help to recognize covid cough. Now we are planning to train the created ensemble of neural networks for the recognition of other diseases,”Mikhailov added.

In addition, the development and version of the product is planned for use as a second opinion system for the rehabilitation and diagnosis of patients. Algorithms will detect not only the cough characteristic of COVID-19, but also asthma, whooping cough and other lung diseases.

After a full range of clinical trials, Acoustery can be used by pulmonologists. Also, with the help of the system, they will test medical preparations - to track the dynamics of the patient's disease and the effectiveness of the drug.

Earlier, during the Open Innovations forum in Skolkovo, Dmitry Peskov, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for Digital and Technological Development, spoke of the technology as one of the promising Russian projects to combat coronavirus.
