MOSCOW, December 24. / TASS /. Federation Council Chairwoman Valentina Matvienko said she plans to be vaccinated against coronavirus as soon as she finds the right time in her work schedule.

"As for me, I have made a decision, I will do the vaccine. The main thing for me now is to choose the right time, because, unfortunately, my work schedule does not allow me to do it calmly, under normal conditions, with high quality," - said Matvienko at a press conference on Thursday following the results of the autumn session.

"As soon as I choose such a time, I will definitely make the vaccine," she added.

According to Matvienko, without the formation of immunity in Russians, it will not be possible to effectively cope with the pandemic in a short time. "Therefore, my recommendation is the same - after consulting a doctor, be sure to get vaccinated. I think that many people understand this today, judging by the intensity of vaccination that is taking place throughout the country," the chairman of the Federation Council noted.

Matvienko clarified that many senators and employees of the apparatus of the upper house of parliament have already been vaccinated against coronavirus and there have been no complications. "Many senators, employees of the Federation Council staff have already been vaccinated. There were no complications, no side effects. This is a good additional signal about the effectiveness of our vaccine," she said.

The Federation Council speaker stressed that Russia is a very peace-loving country that always offers a positive agenda. The senator recalled that the President of the Russian Federation, speaking at the UN and other international venues, called on the countries of the world to join forces, choose the most effective vaccines and make them available to citizens. “Since we did not find such a backlash, we began to act ourselves. And the interest in the Russian vaccine, no matter how hard they tried to discredit it, no matter what rumors about our vaccine were spread, it didn’t work, it didn’t work, because in practice the picture is different. very large , - noted Matvienko.

She said that since it is difficult enough to increase the volume of vaccine to meet both domestic demand and export large volumes, Russia has offered to transfer the Russian vaccine for production to other countries.

“A number of countries have shown interest in this. Russia, I believe, is the leader here,” the chairman of the upper house emphasized.
