Director of the Scientific Information Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Viral Infections, infectious disease doctor Georgy Vikulov explained why in Russia vaccination against coronavirus for people over 60 began later than in other countries.
He told about this in an interview with the radio station "Komsomolskaya Pravda".
The specialist explained that for people of vulnerable categories, and these are children, citizens of older age groups and pregnant women, there are always separate requirements, they are higher than for the population as a whole. That is why additional research is carried out separately for people of older age groups.
“But there are, of course, amendments for the elderly, depending on their characteristics, that is, the state of health. Great emphasis is placed on cardiovascular monitoring and monitoring associated with diseases of the elderly,”the doctor said.
The physician added that in Europe, vaccination began with the elderly, because they have a different vaccination scenario.
Infectious disease specialist, virologist, doctor of medical sciences Nikolay Malyshev, in an interview with NSN, commented on the situation with vaccination against COVID-19.
