A new study by scientists from the University of South Florida (USA) has shown that the flavors used in e-cigarettes can damage the heart muscle. Experts had to conduct an experiment on immortalized heart cells and in mice.

First, experts tested the harmful effects of such substances on mice (on HL-1 cells capable of spontaneous contraction). All three flavors were toxic to HL-1 - fruity, cinnamon and vanilla cream, Reedus writes.

Then, the cells of the heart muscle, obtained from pluripotent stem cells of people, were exposed to three different types of vapors of electronic cigarettes. The first type, containing only the solvent, disrupted electrical activity and heart rate (HR). The second, which contains nicotine and a solvent, increases the toxic effect. Well, the third vapor, consisting of nicotine, solvent and vanilla cream flavoring, damages the heart cells even more.

A certain set of foods can halve the risk of a heart attack. Scientists have shown that the inclusion of olive oil, green tea, garlic, dark chocolate, tomatoes, avocados, fatty fish, legumes and whole grains, berries and nuts, and leafy vegetables in the diet has a positive effect on the work of the heart.

As NEWS.ru wrote, in the ordinary mind, a heart attack is associated with severe chest pain, but in most cases there are much more symptoms and some of them may not be obvious. In some cases, chest pain may not occur at all, especially in women, the elderly, and diabetics. Doctors remind that the cause of a heart attack is a lack of blood flowing to the heart. This puts additional stress on the muscles.
