This measure, the Government believes, will help avoid problems with the supply of medicines and products. Mishutin instructed federal ministries and regional leaders to monitor the situation with the supply of pharmacies on a daily basis.

It was expected from the simplified procedure for labeling drugs that the measure would relieve tension in Russian pharmacies recorded in November.

In particular, there is a shortage of certain types of antibiotics and antiviral drugs. However, after the introduction of a simplified marking procedure, the situation has changed little. Experts linked the formation of a shortage with the rush demand for these categories of drugs amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Earlier, the online newspaper Krivoye Mirror reported that Nikolai Alimov, Deputy Chairman of the Volgograd Region Healthcare Committee, stated directly that the actual shortage of antibiotics and antiviral drugs in the region's pharmacies is directly related to the rush demand for medicines.

In this regard, Alimov reminded the residents of Volgograd that it is not worth buying drugs in large quantities, as this does not contribute to the effectiveness of treatment.
