Expert on conscious eating and healthy lifestyles, founder of the only Russian mantra music label 108Records Alexander Titov told PopCake about the culture of food consumption, the benefits for the human body and why it is gaining momentum in our country. First of all, for me, this is a vegetarian diet - you exclude meat, fish, eggs from your diet and consume everything else. What is mindful eating and what is it eaten with? Alexander: Conscious eating means the concept of cause-and-effect relationships during the consumption of food. A person who practices this knows what he eats, what a particular product consists of and what is the benefit of it for the body. First of all, for me, this is a vegetarian diet - you exclude meat, fish, eggs from your diet and consume everything else. The principle is very simple - to exclude everything that harms the body, leaving only what is good for it. Conscious eating does not include products of violence such as meat and fish. And as soon as you come to this, then automatically both you and your body get to a new level of development. How and where to learn about foods that will nourish, nourish, and satisfy with conscious food intake? Alexander: The answer is very simple - in a supermarket or in the market (Smiles). We live in a time when there are so many interesting products around that the eye rejoices. Conscious eating is, first of all, ease of eating. When I switched to a vegetarian diet, I began to spend several times less time preparing food and for me several departments in the store immediately ceased to exist - meat, fish, eggs, canned food and alcohol. Of course, my wallet also became empty much less often. Besides, you can always find vegetarian dishes in almost any cafe or restaurant. What about vegetables? And the fruit? Alexander: Their diversity is simply amazing! So by eating consciously, you will definitely not stay hungry (Smiles). In our turbulent times, we are used to eating without thinking and usually the process of eating is chaotic. Don't you think that mindful eating is just another trendy diet? And how do you respond to critics who believe that this is just a newfangled trend with a limited period of interest? Alexander: I am glad that over time there is a fashion for awareness - in nutrition, in the consumption of things, that people increasingly began to think about their health, practice yoga, meditation, and practice in the gym. The person began to improve and want to be better, to live longer. And if this trend continues, it will be good for everyone. Many began to think about the damage we inflict on the planet every second, so this is a very cool trend. In our turbulent times, we are used to eating without thinking and usually the process of eating is chaotic. We try to do several things at the same time, so we often combine our meals with reading news on social networks, watching videos, or even eating on the run. The main task of mindful eating is to eat healthy, easily digestible food that will benefit you, and feel yourself in the present moment here and now. It is important what we eat, because by eating a dish, it becomes a part of ourselves, and how we eat. How to Practice Mindful Eating? Where to begin? First you need to understand why I personally need mindful eating. When you understand yourself, you can make choices that will support your health and wellness.Gradually, an understanding of the integrity of the system will come and a feeling of the interconnection of one's choice in food, well-being, cultural and family traditions, ecosystems on Earth, and so on. When understanding came, then it’s a matter of habit, which is developed within six weeks and then everything goes like clockwork. You will see immediate progress and feel much better about yourself. When it comes to nutrition, choose a light diet, such as a vegetarian diet, which excludes fish, meat, and eggs. Set up your workday so that it doesn't exceed eight hours. Avoid stress and fatigue - they negatively affect our body. Get enough sleep! All of the criteria I have listed greatly affect our health, so these aspects of mindfulness must be considered. I always use the cow example. She produces milk, cheese, cream, kefir and much more, but this is not enough for us and we kill her for meat. How should the transition to mindful eating take place? Alexander: When switching to conscious eating, it is important to understand that you are trying to make your life better and rid your body of health problems. For example, I realized that I cannot eat someone's dead meat, poultry or fish. I realized it myself, deliberately! Living things are meant to live, not be killed and cooked for food. I always use the cow example. She produces milk, cheese, cream, kefir and much more, but this is not enough for us and we kill her for meat. This is fundamentally wrong. And it is important to understand this, then there will be a coming to conscious nutrition - you live in a civilized world, and not in a barbaric one. Unfortunately, not everyone understands this yet, but the trend is set and I think that it will only get better in the future. By the way, we must also take into account the fact that mindful eating helps to slow down the aging process of our body. Do we want to live to be 70-80 years old and more? Can you learn to eat mindfully? And if there are breakdowns? Of course, you can learn! It is important to follow some guidelines here that will help you come to mindfulness and eliminate breakdowns. Again, it's all about a habit that needs to be developed. Try not to eat after 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., as food will be harder to digest after this time. Remember that in addition to the usual dishes of meat, fish, eggs, there have long been thousands of others, varied and very useful, which do not harm your body. Get into the habit of eating right, doing yoga, and getting plenty of outdoor activities. In the morning, drink a glass of warm water on an empty stomach to get your body back on track and remove toxins that have accumulated overnight. And don't eat too much to avoid stretching your stomach! If you train mindful eating for a while, then it will become a habit with you and will become as natural as if you have always eaten this way (Smiles). Do you agree with the statement: mindful eating is a health resort for weight loss? Is it possible to lose weight by switching to mindful eating? Alexander: It is important to understand that mindful eating is not a way to lose weight, it is a way to become better than you were before. Someone will lose weight, someone will gain, and someone will remain with the weight that he had. Conscious eating is not about diet and weight loss, but about the desire to become better, healthier, this is the way to live longer and be in harmony with yourself and the world around you
