This was announced by the Minister of Health of Russia Mikhail Murashko in an interview with Naila Asker-zade on the Russia-24 TV channel.

"The use of antibiotics without a doctor's prescription carries enormous risks for patients. First of all, the formation of a drug-resistant flora. And this therapy is already from the category of heavy artillery. And, of course, self-administration of therapy is categorically discouraged, after all, the treatment should sound it is from your doctor, the one who consults you, and, accordingly, accompanies you during your illness, "the minister said.

Earlier, the chief freelance specialist in clinical microbiology and antimicrobial resistance of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences Roman Kozlov said that the disease caused by a new coronavirus infection is not an indicator for the use of antibiotics, but today more than 90% of patients with COVID-19 receive antibacterial drugs. Antibiotics are only justified if there are compelling signs of a bacterial infection.
