American doctors managed to bring back to life a man whose heart did not beat for 45 minutes. The Seattle Times reports.

According to the publication, Michael Knapinski disappeared on November 7 while hiking in the snow-capped mountains of Mount Rainier National Park. His search did not give an immediate result, and the 45-year-old man was found unconscious the next day. After that, Knapinski was taken to the Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where his heart stopped.

“He died while he was in the emergency room,” explained the center's physician, Jenelle Badulak.

The doctor added that the man was in this state for 45 minutes, and the doctors at that moment gave him artificial respiration and connected him to an extracorporeal membrane oxygenation apparatus, thanks to which it was possible to restart Knapinski's heart.

“He came back from the dead. It may not be entirely correct from a medical point of view (so to speak. - Approx. Ed.), But his heart did not beat for more than 45 minutes. It's incredible,”Dr. Saman Arbaby, Medical Director of the Intensive Care Surgical Unit in Harborview, later shared his opinion.

When Knapinski got better, he thanked the doctors for saving his life. In an interview with the publication, he also told why he was lost in the mountains. According to the man, his eyes dimmed as he approached the end of the ski run. In this state, he made an attempt to go down, but most likely lost consciousness and fell, as evidenced by abrasions and scratches all over his body.
