The meeting of the Council of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), which will present a report on the readiness of the 2021 World Cup in Minsk and Riga, is scheduled for November 16. TASS was informed about this in the press service of the organization.
The World Championship is to be held from May 21 to June 6, 2021.
“IIHF consults with qualified experts representing security services, medical and sports organizations. The experts we consult are kept secret,” the report says. “Based on the results of the upcoming risk analysis and recommendations of these experts, IIHF will prepare a conclusion that will be presented to the council at its November meeting."
"The meeting will be held tentatively on November 16 in an online format," - added in the message.
The Latvian authorities refuse to hold the championship together with Minsk due to political protests in Belarus. The Belarusian authorities, in turn, declared their readiness to organize the tournament on their own. Earlier, the IIHF announced that there could be no postponement of the 2021 World Cup for political reasons, preparations for it would continue.
