MOSCOW, February 8. / TASS /. Moscow and Tehran have good prospects for cooperation in combating the coronavirus pandemic, in particular on a vaccine. This was announced on February 8 by the chairman of the Mejlis (unicameral parliament - approx. TASS) of Iran, Mohammad Bagher Galibaf, following a meeting with the chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko.

Galibaf thanked the Russian government for cooperation and attention to Iran, as well as for the supply of the coronavirus vaccine to the republic. "Prospects for good cooperation in this area have been formed," he said.

The head of the Mejlis noted that two local vaccines are at the stage of final tests in Iran. "They will enter the market for public use within the next two months at the most," he said.

"But the interaction that has developed between our countries on the vaccine is standard and exemplary," the politician emphasized.

The first batch of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine was delivered to Tehran on 4 February. Iranian Minister of Health and Medical Education Said Namaki said that the supply of the drug allows the start of vaccination in Iran on February 9. As Iranian Ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali informed on February 7, the next batch of Sputnik V will be delivered to the country by February 18.
