Vodka will not help disinfect wounds and abrasions, but if the damage to the skin is minor, the alcoholic drink will do for mechanical cleaning of the wound, reports aif.ru.

As Ph.D., doctor of the highest category, surgeon Fedor Shpachenko explained, vodka is unable to effectively fight bacteria.

“Vodka is not a disinfectant because it has a low alcohol content. In medical institutions, alcohol with a strength of 70% is usually used as a disinfectant. This is the minimum percentage to kill bacteria,”Shpachenko said.

However, if there are no disinfectants at hand, and the damage itself is shallow, then it can and should be washed with vodka. It won't kill bacteria, but it can wash them out of the wound. Moreover, for these purposes, an alcoholic drink is even better than ordinary water.

“If nothing is at hand, vodka is better for treating wounds than water. The water itself can contain bacteria,”the doctor said.

Earlier, doctors told how night trips to the refrigerator can turn out. According to experts, nighttime snacks are not only harmful to the figure, but can also lead to caries, the formation of atherosclerotic plaques and blood clots, as well as premature aging. In addition, a hearty dinner also affects the quality of sleep - it becomes more difficult to fall asleep, and the sleep itself becomes restless.
