With diabetes, it is necessary to adhere to a diet throughout life and take into account carbohydrates in the diet. Endocrinologist Lyudmila Komarova told about this in an interview with AiF-Voronezh.
“People with type 1 diabetes should only consider carbohydrates in their diet. They are guided by such a concept as a carbohydrate or grain unit. It is equal to 10-12 grams of net carbs. Depending on how many units of bread a person has eaten, he must inject such a dose of short insulin,”Komarova explained.
However, she said, people with type 2 diabetes should count kilocalories. So, women should consume 1.2 thousand calories daily with food, and men - 1.5 thousand. “And this is with an average intensity of work,” - said the doctor, stressing that calories should be evenly distributed throughout the day.
In addition, Komarova advised to abandon such sweeteners as sorbitol, xylitol, fructose. “Tablets, syrups or powders that are made with saccharin, aspartame or cyclamate are generally acceptable. You can also add stevia to tea, an herb that is many times sweeter than sugar,”the doctor said, noting that sometimes people with diabetes can snack on dark chocolate.
The formation of a system of motivation among Russians for a healthy lifestyle and proper nutrition is one of the goals of the Demography national project. The remaining goals of the national project are to reduce the mortality rate of the population, provide additional education to citizens of pre-retirement age, as well as increase the level of accessibility of preschool education.
