“Unfortunately, the information that a person receives on television, in other media, in some other sources, does not always contribute to the correct choice of food. It contains general information: tasty or not tasty. And how useful or not useful is not explained. There are, on the contrary, distortions, when the consumer is intimidated: it is harmful, it is better not to eat, it is impossible. All this must be overcome in some way.
This campaign involves a number of activities that are aimed at promoting the idea of healthy eating. But there are some problems here. The first is related to the information on the food label. It is read by no more than 50% of buyers. That is, people do not pay attention to what they buy. The second problem is related to the fact that there is no single official document from the Ministry of Health that clearly defines what a healthy diet is. But here you should take into account the fact that the products are what they are. It is not worth saying that they are dangerous to health. Because all of them, before getting to the counter, have a document stating that the product is safe. Otherwise, he simply would not have hit the store counter. But, unfortunately, Russians are distinguished by the fact that they are among these safe products, they choose those that have more fat, sugar and salt. Thus, they create problems for their health.
The task of this communication company is to teach the population to correctly compose their diet and help them choose from foods those that are less fat, sugar and salt. This is not our invention. This practice already exists in many countries. And it is quite successful because it leads to better health. Take England. In the British, as a result of the reduction in salt intake, mean arterial pressure dropped significantly. This is a comprehensive educational program for the population and an effective way to prevent the development of cardiovascular diseases, as well as diabetes, obesity, and more.
With regard to labeling, the question of how it will look is discussed with food manufacturers. What it will be: an emblem, a badge, a color scheme Now we have to put only the fat content on the label, but as for sugar or salt, the consumer is not given information about their content. For such information to appear, the manufacturer must prepare, make the appropriate changes to the technical documentation and order the development of label design, this will take more than one month. But before that, official documents, booklets, videos of the Ministry of Health on healthy nutrition should be released.
I want to emphasize that the labeling, which is most often written about in the media, is only one of the points of the communication program. In fact, there are dozens of tasks to be solved. One of them is a document that will explain what a healthy diet is and how to properly form your diet. Currently, the Ministry of Health is engaged in this.
At the same time, I want to note. A couple of weeks ago, we met with food manufacturers at the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs. And they unequivocally support this campaign and speak of the need to take measures aimed at "improving" the diet of the population of our country."
