Some patients with oncology have already been vaccinated against coronavirus in the Novosibirsk region. What happened to their health, said the chief oncologist of the region Vadim Zakharov at a press conference on Wednesday, February 3.
According to him, so far no one knows how the vaccination will affect the health of cancer patients in the future, but so far their condition does not cause concern.
“There was a doubt whether the vaccine would speed up the course of the disease, whether it would slow down the production of antibodies, since our patients' immunity is depressed. I have a positive attitude towards vaccination. Our patients are a particularly vulnerable group during a pandemic, their disease progresses more aggressively. Some have already undergone the injection. It didn’t affect the state of health,”Zakharov said.
He noted that in the case of cancer patients, the vaccine is done in remission or between courses of treatment under the supervision of the attending physician.
So far, in the Novosibirsk region, the most affordable coronavirus vaccine called "Sputnik V", developed by the Gamaleya center. The vaccine from the Novosibirsk "Vector" "EpiVacCorona" will go into mass production in February.
