The Penza Regional Clinical Blood Center continues to form a register of potential donors of anticoid plasma. This was reported by the regional health ministry. Donors are screened for the presence of antibodies to COVID-19: if a positive result is obtained, they are invited to donate anticoid plasma. "Persons who have undergone latent coronavirus and have antibodies of the IgG class to SARS CoV-2, today make up the bulk of the donors of anticoid plasma," the ministry said. The head physician of the Blood Center, Tatyana Krylova, explained that the anticoid plasma undergoes a virus inactivation procedure and is issued to medical institutions upon request for clinical use. “In the absence of an urgent need, plasma is frozen for further planned use,” she said. It is worth noting that since the beginning of the pandemic, 2,726 doses of anticoid plasma have been procured at the Blood Center, 2,536 doses have been transfused, and 2,082 recipients have received transfusions of anticoid plasma.
